Lake Ontario Courses

A deposit is required to reserve your place on the course.
The balance is due 30 days prior to the start of the course.

What is included in the course fee?

The course fee includes all pre-course materials and the course text book. It also includes cost of the examination and registration with Ontario Sailing (CYA provincial member). The Basic course also includes the CYA International Cruising Logbook and if you don’t already have it, the Pleasure Craft Operators Card.The course fee also covers the boat fuel costs and pumpout and dockage at Collins Bay Marina

Live aboard course fees do not include.

  • Eating out (usually one evening meal you cover your own expense)
  • Food- the students buy provisions for the boat and cook meals as part of the course.
  • Dockage/pumpout while away from Collins Bay Marina usually around $20 per student.

The Day course fees

include all boat costs but do not include any costs of lunch. You will need to bring a packed lunch.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation by the school:

If an alternative date cannot be mutually arranged, any deposits are refundable in full. If you have received a pre-course package and the materials are not in saleable condition then we will deduct $50 from the refund. If you join another course the $50 fee can be applied to the alternative course since you will not require a pre-course package.

Cancellation by the Student:

  • If a Student cancels more than 30 days prior to a course start date, only the deposit is forfeited.
    However, if a Student cancels anytime before the course starts, and can be replaced with another Student to fill their space on the boat, all monies paid will be refunded (less an administrative fee of $50 or $100 if they have been sent a pre-course package).
  • If the Student cancels within 30 days before the course starts, and cannot be replaced,or if a Student cancels during a course the full course fee is non-refundable.
  • In the event they wish to continue at another time, they will need to register for a full course at the prevailing course price less $50 if the pre-course package was already received.

ICC weekend Courses

The full fee is required to reserve your place on the course.

Cancellation by the Student:

  • If a Student cancels more than 30 days prior to a course start date, 75% of the fee is refunded.
  • If the Student cancels within 30 days before the course starts or if a Student cancels during a course the full course fee is non-refundable.
  • In the event they wish to continue at another time, they will need to register for a full course at the prevailing course price.

Lake Huron -North Channel Courses

A deposit of 50% of the course fee is required to reserve your place on the course. The balance is due 60 days prior to the start of the course.

What is included in the course fee?

The course fee includes all pre-course materials and the course text book. It also includes cost of the examination and registration with Ontario Sailing (CYA provincial member).

  • Food- the students buy provisions for the boat and cook meals as part of the course.
  • Dockage while away from Gore Bay.
  • Fuel and Pumpouts.

Cancellation by the Student:

  • If a Student cancels more than 60 days prior to a course start date, only the deposit is forfeited.
  • However, if a Student cancels anytime before the course starts, and can be replaced with another Student to fill their space on the boat, all monies paid will be refunded (less an administrative fee of $200 ).
  • If the Student cancels within 60 days before the course starts, and cannot be replaced,or if a Student cancels during a course the full course fee is non-refundable.
  • In the event they wish to continue at another time, they will need to register for a full course at the prevailing course price.

BVI Courses

A deposit of 50% of the course fee is required to reserve your place on the course. The balance is due 60 days prior to the start of the course.

What is included in the course fee?

The Course Package Includes…

  • 8 days of cruising and learning in the B.V.I.s
  • all boat expenses and required taxes applicable in the B.V.I.s
  • accommodation and superb cruising aboard a large modern Beneteau 47′ yacht.
  • Provisions for all breakfasts and lunches and 4 dinners (other dinners are ashore at your expense)
  • high instructor -student ratio for individual attention with ample time to complete the standard.
  • all texts and course materials International cruising logbook and CYA certification fees
  • superior instruction from CYA certified instructors with considerable experience of sailing in the BVI’s
  • the opportunity to be certified with the CYA Basic Cruising Standard or Intermediate Cruising Standard

Air fare is extra we can advise on travel to the BVI

Cancellations and Refunds

If an alternative date cannot be mutually arranged, any deposits are refundable in full.

Cancellation by the Student:

  • If a Student cancels more than 60 days prior to a course start date, only the 50% deposit is forfeited.
  • If the Student cancels within 60 days before the course starts,or if a Student cancels during a course the full course fee is non-refundable.
  • If however, a Student cancels up to 14 days before the course starts, and can be replaced with another student to fill their space on the boat, all monies paid will be refunded (less an administrative fee of 25% of the fee already paid
  • You are strongly advised to buy trip cancellation Insurance
